Our Tricks To Kill Some Seriously Scary Weeds

Noxious and invasive weeds can be downright frightening, but the proper weed killers can get rid of them! They slink, slither and creep around your landscaping and infect your lawn, forcing you to take drastic measures – killing them down to the root. Some of the scariest invaders by far are Virginia creeper, kudzu and bamboo. There is no need to scream in frustration, because Ragan & Massey has the herbicides to put an end to your botanical nightmares for good.

BRUSHTOX Massacres Virginia Creeper

Woody plants that feverishly grow in pastures, fencerows and ditch banks can have you running scared as foliage herbicide applications alone may not be enough to eradicate them. One of the scariest is Virginia creeper. It uses its woody stems to climb as high as 50 feet, strangling every other plant in its path. It will return from the grave time and time again even after repeated sprayings or attempts to dig it up. A basal bark or cut stump treatment is the only answer and BRUSHTOX is the perfect tool do it.

BRUSHTOX is a concentrated herbicide containing triclopyr that puts the nail in Virginia Creeper’s coffin because it works both as a foliar spray, basal bark or cut stump application. To use BRUSHTOX to manage Virginia creeper, use it as an oil or oil-water mixture (acceptable oils are commercially-available basal oil or those cleared for crop use) and apply it to a freshly-cut stump or to the bottom 12-inches of a woody trunk. The timing of a BRUSHTOX application is critical to achieving the best results. Use tools like the USDA Planting Zones Guide for temperature and weather conditions for application timing to achieve optimum control of Virginia creeper.

BRUSHTOX will also kill other scary woody plants like milkweed vine, poison ivy, poison oak, trumpet creeper and twisted acacia.

RM43 Annihilates Kudzu

Ask any southern gardener what his or her deepest, darkest fear is and kudzu is the response. Native to Japan, it has vines that smother and choke out everything in their path including native species, wild spaces and even structures. Kudzu can grow 12 feet a day, eventually reaching more than 100 feet. RM43 is just the herbicide to put it out of its misery.

RM43 is a combination of 43 percent glyphosate herbicide and a surfactant. Apply RM43 with a hand-operated sprayer or an ATV/tractor mounted sprayer mixed with six ounces of the product per gallon of water. RM43 needs to be applied to foliage to work, so make sure some exists after mowing the kudzu down. Don’t mow the area for at least two months following the treatment.

Bamboo Is Terrified Of Compare-N-Save Concentrate Grass & Weed Killer

Bamboo came to this country from Asia under the guise of an ornamental plant but its true self was soon unmasked as the native killer it really is. Ridding your property of bamboo is no easy job as its roots slither and spread underground creating new shoots from the spreading rhizomes. Compare-N-Save Grass & Weed Killer can make it disappear.

Cut the bamboo down and immediately spray the cut with a 50 to 100 percent solution of Compare-N-Save Concentrate Grass & Weed Killer and use suitable equipment to ensure coverage of the entire cambium. Cut any trees or re-sprouts as close to the soil surface as possible and apply the concentrated solution to the freshly-cut surface immediately after cutting. Keep in mind, delays in the application may result in reduced performance. For best results, applications should be made during periods of active growth and full leaf expansion.

Compare-N-Save also kills witchgrass, prickly lettuce, cattail, pennywort, poison hemlock and quaking aspen.
